Sports Illustrated has been engaged in a Tweet Week series since Monday that includes a second annual SI.com list of the 100 best Twitter feeds in sports, features of athletes that are social media savvy or entertaining and interviews with the magazine’s swimsuit models, according to an article on Mashable.
The top 100 list is in alphabetical order and specifically omits SI writers, although the magazine encourages readers to follow contributors individually and on its main twitter feed @SINOW.
“Twitter and sports overlap so thoroughly that this is a chance for SI to talk not only about the players, but also the stories behind the tweets,” said managing editor Matt Bean to Mashable. Bean says that as the magazine continues its foray into more digital and social media spaces, “readers can look forward to more coverage like this week’s Twitter exploration.”
