Just like its New York counterpart in early September, social media was also front and center stage at London’s Fashion Week late last month with luxury British brand Burberry mentioned over 21,000 times on Twitter, Facebook and other fashion blogs, according to an article in the UK’s Daily Mail. A quarter of these mentions, however, focused on latest pop music phenomenon One Direction’s Harry Styles, who sat in the front row at the Burberry fashion show. British rival clothing company Topshop came in second place with approximately 10,000 mentions across digital platforms.
The top five tweeted brands were Burberry with almost 21,000 tweets, Topshop with 9,161, Vivienne Westwood with approximately 3,000, Matthew Williamson pulling down 2,228 tweets and Canadian-born British-Turkish fashion designer Erdem garnering 1,400 tweets.
And the most shocking fact of all: that we are even talking Spring/Summer 2013 fashion when it just turned fall last week!
